Summary: The purpose of the study was to evaluate cryoablation of fibroadenomas under ultrasound guidance in an office-based setting using a liquid-nitrogen based system by IceCure Medical. Data was collected from 23 cryoablation procedures performed under ultrasound guidance on patients with histologically confirmed fibroadenomas with a maximum dimension of 3cm. 91.3% of the fibroadenomas treated were fully engulfed by the ice ball created during a freeze-thaw-freeze treatment cycle performed according to the size of the fibroadenoma. At 1-year follow-up, in 91% of the cases physician described the fibroadenomas as “soft” or “not palpable.” In 96% of the cases, patients and physicians rated the cosmetic results as excellent or good. The cryodestruction of fibroadenomas using a liquid nitrogen based cryoablation system proved to be functional and safe, while demonstrating meaningful reduction in volume, palpability, pain and showing satisfying cosmetic outcomes.
