Quick, Safe, Alternative to Surgery

The Procedure

In Office Cryoablation

Traditionally, surgery used to be the only option for patients who wanted to treat their Fibroadenomas. The surgical procedures are performed in the operating room, typically under general anesthesia, and they leave a scar that depends on the size of the breast lump.

Today, there is an alternative. Cryoablation is performed in the physician’s office. A cryoprobe is inserted to the breast through a tiny incision (regardless of the lump size), under ultrasound guidance. Then, an ice ball is formed around the Fibroadenoma and destroys it. Local sedation is sufficient, thanks to the analgesic effect of the ice.

Recovery

The recovery time from the cryoablation procedure is very quick – only a few hours.  According to the literature(1), the patient typically feels a lump for several months as the body naturally gets rid of the necrotic tissue, and in most patients complete resolution can be expected within 6-12 months, and 97% patient satisfaction is reported.
