Hezi Himelfarb, BSc., MBA, CEO

Hezi Himelfarb joined IceCure in July 2008, from Remon Medical Technologies, Inc. During his 8 years in Remon, he raised $39M from U.S. and Israeli Venture Capital funds and led the 45-employee company from an early stage incubator start-up, through several innovation and development cycles, including successful human trials in the U.S, Europe, India and Israel.

At the end of 2008, Hezi led the acquisition of Remon by Boston Scientific for $100+ million and additional future earn-outs.

Prior to Remom, Hezi spent 4 years in Medtronic InStent Israel. At Medtronic, he was responsible for managing the company’s Israeli facility, which designed and manufactured coronary and peripheral stents. In this capacity, he led the company’s efforts in building a high-standard, ISO-certified manufacturing facility. Mr. Himelfarb also led the integration of InStent into Medtronic’s vascular group, which conducted several worldwide animal and clinical trials with regard to its newly developed stents.

Prior to Medtronic, Hezi spent 14 years at Scitex Corporation, where he held positions including engineering manager, hardware designer, software programmer and project leader. At Scitex, he was responsible for building software and hardware infrastructures that tested complex electromechanical systems. Mr. Himelfarb holds a B.Sc. in electronic engineering and an M.B.A, both from Tel-Aviv University.

Simon Sharon, MSc., MBA, VP Research & Development

Simon managed the Engineering Dept. at CI Systems – a designer and manufacturer of Electro-Optical test systems in 1997-2000.

In 2000 he joined Disc-O-Tech Medical Technologies in the position of Manager of R&D.  In Disc-O-Tech, Simon was responsible for the development of orthopedic implants, including their delivery system; He defined and performed in-vitro and in-vivo testing and was responsible for the overall technical aspects of regulatory submissions to FDA and CE.

In 2002 Simon was appointed to Director of R&D and Engineering at Anorad Corporation, an Israeli business unit of Rockwell Automation. Three years after, he became the General Manager of Anorad Israel.

Simon Sharon gained his bachelor degree at the Technion and Master degree in Mechanical Engineering from MIT (1986) where he specialized in motion control and robotics.

He also holds an International Executive MBA Degree from the Kellogg-Recanati School of Business.

Eyal Shai, BSc., MBA, VP Products & Business Development

From 1999 until 2008 Eyal filled various managerial roles in the Nuclear Medicine business of General Electric Healthcare, including product manager, program manager, clinical applications and research manager, and most recently cardiology segment manager.

During this period, Eyal led various products through their entire life cycle, including product definition, development, introduction to the market, and customer support.  Eyal built close working relationships with leading clinical research institutions such as the University of California, San Francisco, John's Hopkins University, Mayo Clinic, Emory University, and others. 

Eyal has an undergraduate degree in Physics from the Technion (Israel) and an International Executive MBA degree from the Kellogg-Recanati School of Business.

Elisabeth Sadka, MSc., MBA, VP RA/QA and Clinical Applications

Elisabeth joined IceCure in 2007 after 15 years of experience in quality, regulation, clinical and business development managing positions, in leading medical device companies, amongst which are Galil Medical (cryotherapy medical device), Cutmed (ophthalmology medical device) and BioScan Technologies (cardiology therapeutic and imaging medical device).

Elisabeth holds a M.Sc in Food Sciences and Nutrition Engineering from Dijon University, in France and a MBA Degree from the Herriot Watt University of Edinburgh.

Nir Berzak, Dr.Eng.Sc. , Chief Engineer

Dr. Berzak brings over 30 years of academic and industry experience.  He was an associate professor in the Rochester Institute of Technology, and worked in a number of companies, including Galil Medical, Applisonix, IOptima, Arad-Dalia, and Scitex.

Dr. Berzak holds B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from the Technion, and Doctor of Engineering Science in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University.

Rafi Klein, MD, Chief Medical Officer

Dr. Klein has 17 years of experience in breast surgery and general surgery.  He is the Chief Surgeon of the Ramat Aviv Women’s Health Center, a Senior General Surgeon in Rambam Medical Center, a private practicioner in breast diseases and surgery and breast reconstruction in Horev Medical Center Haifa, and a private surgeon for general surgery, breast surgery, and breast reconstruction in Assuta Hospitals in Israel.

Between 1992 and 1994, Dr. Klein was a fellow breast surgeon in Memorial Sloan Kettering, New York, Institute de Tumori, Milano, Italy, and the Breast Center in Vancouver, Canada.
